Collin County Home Sales Continue to Show Improvement
Collin County's real estate market continues to show signs of growth. The CCAR Pulse reports that closed sales increased by 3.3 percent in July over the previous month, and it took an average of three days less to sell a home.
"Real estate sales have peaked in June or July for the last several years running, and 2009 appears to be no exception," says Steve Haid, CCAR member services director. "The number of projected closed sales in July 2009 was virtually the same as last July-the first time this year where sales have not been substantially lower than the same month in 2008."
The CCAR Pulse, which delves into the real estate markets of 36 local communities, also reports that while most 2009 market indicators are slightly less than 2008, Collin County and surrounding areas are starting to see hints of recovery. It takes less time to sell a home in 2009 than it did in 2008, and the median sales price is only 1.6 percent lower than last year.
"This is truly a great time to buy a home in Collin County. The housing affordability index is a whopping 12 percent higher than it was a year ago, and to make matters even better for buyers, mortgage interest rates remain near record lows," enthuses Haid. |
