Important Sign Ordinance Enforcement Information

Local Cities Enforce Sign Ordinances... Sometimes!

A fine of several hundred dollars can result from the City of Plano's current campaign of sign ordinance enforcement. Recently one of our members pointed out that he and other REALTORS® had received citations (read that “tickets”) for open house or other signs. This resulted from city staff implementing an “enforcement campaign” for the existing sign ordinance that has been on the books for several years.

Bottom line is:

- our local cities all have sign ordinances,
- they are all different,
- they are enforced with various levels of aggressiveness, and,
- the enforcement level changes from time to time.

Frisco Sign Ordinance Amended
The Collin County Association of REALTORS® would like to thank CCAR REALTOR® member Jeff Cheney and the Frisco City Council for amending the Frisco Sign Ordinance. The council's hard work has resulted in an easing of restrictions which once again allows REALTORS® to post open house signs.
