Tax Credit Deadline Extended; Flood Insurance Program Reinstated Congress has passed a bill extending the Homebuyer Tax Credit closing deadline to September 30, 2010. The extension applies only to transactions that had ratified contracts in place as of April 30, 2010, and have not yet closed. There will be no gap between June 30 and the date the President signs the bill into law.
Additionally, Congress has extended the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) through September 30, 2010. This will allow transactions to move forward. The bill is retroactive and will cover the lapse period from June 1, 2010, to the date the law is enacted.
For additional information on both the tax credit deadline and the NFIP, visit Realtor.org/Government Affairs.

Third Annual TREPAC Patriotic Breakfast a Success Thanks to everyone who participated in last week's Third Annual TREPAC Patriotic Breakfast at the McKinney Performing Arts Center. The location was perfect and the program and music were inspiring! Lt. Col. Barry Bridger recounted his experiences as a Vietnam POW and explored the dynamics of the American spirit under extreme torture and duress.
Thanks to First Command Financial Services for underwriting the expenses to bring this phenomenal speaker to Collin County. Also, very special thanks to the following TREPAC Committee Volunteers: Doug Reece, Keller Williams Frisco Stars (event chairman); Cindy Peters, Republic Title McKinney (food and beverage); Doug Trumbull, Doug's Mighty Clean (decorations); Mal Smith, RE/MAX Premier Properties (program coordinator); Byron Ingraham, First Command Financial Services, Inc. (speaker coordinator); Wayne Lancaster, Viewpoint Bank Mortgage (flags); Dan Hunt, Classic Financial Services (set-up and break-down); John Butcher, Coldwell Banker Frisco (set-up and break-down); Ken Missler, RE/MAX Premier (set-up and break-down). Herb Ziev, Suzanne Brockner, Scot Moran, Ruth Darling (CCAR Voices United); Casey Ross, Mary Leidy, Gigi Loch (CCAR staff support).
Finally, the Patriotic Breakfast would not have been possible without the huge financial support of Meritage and Monterey Homes. Please show your support for them as they have shown for CCAR and for TREPAC.
Because of the generous support by CCAR members, the Patriotic Breakfast brought in $2,700 for TREPAC. Thank you! Additionally, in the days following the event, Mike Brodie presented CCAR with a check made out to TREPAC for $5,000-making his investment over $6,000 for the 2010 calendar year. Thanks, Mike, for your commitment to property and homeowner rights, as well as to the health of our industry!
